Embarking on the journey of starting a business as a woman is undoubtedly a challenging endeavor, yet Stuti Lal has not only established a company but has also ignited a movement. Bikalp Herbals was conceived from Stuti’s profound dedication to holistic wellness, sustainability, and the inherent power of nature. However, beneath the surface of her remarkable success lies a narrative of resilience, adversity, and unwavering determination.
In order to fortify her path as an entrepreneur, Stuti sought training at prestigious institutions such as IIM Kashipur and MANAGE-CIA Hyderabad. These programs equipped her with the essential skills needed to navigate the complexities of the business landscape. Rather than allowing obstacles to impede her progress, Stuti viewed them as opportunities for growth, using each challenge as a stepping stone towards success.
Today, Stuti’s brand is driven by a steadfast mission to leave a lasting impact on the herbal wellness industry. Through her unwavering commitment to her vision, Stuti Lal has not only built a business but has also sparked a transformative movement that is poised to redefine the landscape of holistic wellness.
“Watching my loved ones battle lifestyle disorders, I knew there had to be a better way—one
that was natural, effective, and within everyone’s reach,” says Stuti. “That realization
sparked the journey of Bikalp Herbals, a brand dedicated to empowering individuals to take
control of their health with nature’s goodness.”

Healing Through Nature: The Story of Bikalp Herbals and the Fight Against Lifestyle Disorders:
In today’s fast-paced world, lifestyle disorders like diabetes, hypertension, and obesity have silently taken over our lives. Long working hours, processed foods, and a lack of exercise have made us more vulnerable than ever. The numbers are staggering—537 million adults worldwide suffer from diabetes, and 1.28 billion battle high blood pressure. The situation is no different in India, where mental health issues have also been on the rise, affecting nearly 197.3 million people.
But amidst these challenges, a quiet revolution is taking place, driven by the age-old wisdom of Ayurveda and the power of nature.

A Spark of Change:
It all began during the COVID-19 pandemic when people started searching for natural ways to boost their immunity. Herbal supplements, once overlooked, became a lifeline. Seeing this shift, the co-founders of Bikalp Herbals—experts in medicinal plants and business analytics—decided to step in. They developed two herbal concoctions for lung care and immunity, which were met with overwhelming demand.
But their vision went beyond just immunity. They saw a bigger problem—millions of people dealing with borderline health conditions that didn’t require medication but could be managed with the right lifestyle choices. What if they could create a simple, natural solution for these conditions?

The Birth of an Idea:
The answer lay in functional foods—foods that not only nourish but also heal. But how could they make herbal remedies accessible to everyone? The solution came in an everyday habit: tea. Instead of pills or bitter syrups, they decided to introduce herbal tea bags—an easy, tasty, and convenient way to integrate wellness into daily life.
With this idea, Bikalp Herbals was born. They developed products like Dip-n-Sip SugarFree for diabetes, BP Balance for hypertension, and Cholesterol Care for heart health— each designed with precise herbal compositions to help manage lifestyle disorders naturally.

Bridging Science and Tradition:
Of course, a great idea needs validation. They partnered with Kumaon University to conduct research on animal models, ensuring their formulations were scientifically backed. They also approached leading Ayurvedic medical institutions for clinical trials, but due to the lack of clear regulations for functional foods, funding and approval remained hurdles.
Despite these challenges, they pushed forward. Government research centers conducted safety tests, and the response from consumers was promising. They needed the right strategy to take their vision to the masses.
Turning an Idea into a Movement:
To build a strong foundation, the team joined the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Kashipur’s startup incubation program, where they gained insights into business strategy and market entry. Their business model was even validated by the Global Jury of the Wadhwani Foundation, proving that they had the potential to make a real impact.
They then took their products to the people—participating in national and international events like the UP Global Investor Summit, IIT Kanpur Startup Expo, and IIM Kashipur Startup Showcase. What they discovered was surprising. Initially, they targeted individuals aged 35-60 years, but at one event, 78% of participants aged 18-25 expressed interest in using their products. Even senior citizens showed curiosity. The message was clear—people of all ages were looking for natural
solutions to manage their health.
A Recognition from the Nation’s Leaders:
Their journey did not go unnoticed. India’s Health Minister, Dr. Mansukh Malviya, recognized their efforts in herbal healthcare solutions. But the most incredible moment came on August 15, 2024, when Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke about leveraging traditional medicine in his Independence Day speech—a vision that aligned perfectly with what Bikalp Herbals was working towards.

Overcoming Challenges and Looking Ahead:
Despite their success, challenges remain. The functional food sector in India lacks clear
policies, making it difficult for startups like Bikalp Herbals to conduct large-scale clinical
trials and gain wider acceptance. There is also consumer skepticism—many people
hesitate to trust herbal solutions due to inconsistent regulations and misinformation.
But the team is determined to push forward. Their next step? Advocating for clear
policies on functional foods, collaborating with regulatory bodies, and launching training
programs to promote the cultivation of medicinal plants—creating opportunities for
farmers while ensuring a sustainable supply chain.
A Future Rooted in Tradition and Innovation:
What started as a small idea has now grown into a mission—to bring Ayurveda into the modern world and make natural healthcare accessible to all. By combining traditional wisdom with scientific validation, Bikalp Herbals is redefining wellness, one sip at a time.
In the end, it’s not just about selling herbal tea bags—it’s about empowering people to take control of their health, naturally. Bikalp Herbals is more than a business—it’s a call to embrace health, sustainability, and natural wellness.
Stuti Lal’s journey is a powerful reminder that success isn’t just about profits—it’s about making a difference. Through Bikalp Herbals, she is transforming lives, one herbal remedy at a time.
For those who dream of starting something of their own, her advice is simple: “Identify your passion, conduct thorough research, and never stop learning. Build a strong team, and always stay customer-focused.”
Invest in research and development to set new benchmarks in herbal healthcare.
Bikalp Herbals is not just a brand. It’s a revolution. And this is just the beginning.
