For many farmers, growing quality produce is only half the challenge. Accessing the right market and securing fair value for their harvest often remains the bigger hurdle. While their produce may meet global standards, fragmented supply chains, logistics complexities, and limited market access frequently prevent them from reaching premium buyers across the world.
That is the world Chiranjeevi Allalasandra Rajanna, founder of Bangalore-based Scion Agricos Private Limited, wanted to change. In an industry plagued by post-harvest losses and quality disputes, Chiranjeevi is not just a trader of fruits and vegetables. He is building a bridge between producers and consumers across continents, creating value for farmers while delivering premium-quality produce to global markets.
The Observation That Started It All:
The story of Scion Agricos did not start in a boardroom, but rather with an observation of the global agricultural gap firsthand. Chiranjeevi’s experience in the fresh produce business ranges from his upbringing in India to studying for his Master’s in Germany.
In the European fresh produce industry, he saw the high stakes of international trade: volatile market prices, the constant ticking clock of perishable goods, and the intricate logistics of global trade. He saw that the problems Indian farmers were facing in getting the right price for their labour were the same problems faced by producers everywhere.
“Rather than see these as obstacles, I saw them as opportunities to create something meaningful.” Chiranjeevi understood that agriculture is not merely about the product, but about trust, consistency, and solving the systemic inefficiencies that stand in the way of growth.
Opening New Corridors: Not Just Trade
Scion Agricos was designed to connect agriculture across borders. Today, the company serves as a global bridge, sourcing and trading fresh produce from countries as diverse as South Africa, Egypt, Poland, New Zealand, Brazil, China, and Turkey.
But what makes Scion Agricos unique is that it is not just about trading; it is about creating markets. While most players have focused on established, high-volume routes, Chiranjeevi has been forging new paths for underrepresented Indian produce. Under his leadership, Scion Agricos pioneered the export of GI-tagged Purandar figs and fig juice to international markets such as Hong Kong, Malaysia, and Poland.
He turned “niche” products into global commodities through better quality matching and steady international demand. He also filled a void in the Indian domestic market by introducing premium imported varieties such as Brazil-origin Tahiti limes and exclusive apple varieties like Rouge from New Zealand and Zingy from France.
Impact: Building a ₹200+ Crore Global Produce Network
Within just three years, Scion Agricos has achieved cumulative revenues exceeding ₹200 crore across multiple international markets through its direct Indian operations and strategic supply chain partnerships in Europe and other global markets. This milestone is a testament to the company’s hands-on approach. Chiranjeevi’s team is focused on building long-term relationships rather than short-term gains in a highly fragmented and volatile industry.
“We are driven by execution,” says Chiranjeevi. “We are not just following traditional trade routes. We are creating new sourcing corridors and building sustainable cross-border agricultural ecosystems.”
Scion Agricos is helping farmers unlock the real value of their produce by tackling the root causes of quality inconsistency and limited market linkages. The company is proving that when intermediaries and inefficiencies are reduced, the entire supply chain becomes more transparent and profitable for everyone involved.
The Future
Today, Scion Agricos is on a bigger mission: to ensure that opportunities for producers are no longer limited by geography. What the company is doing—combining the science of perishability, logistics, and the calculus of international trade—is laying the groundwork for a more efficient, trust-based agricultural economy.
The goal remains steadfast: to continue dismantling the inefficiencies that keep farmers trapped in local markets. Looking to the future, Scion Agricos is building trusted global channels that connect producers and consumers across continents, ensuring the best of Indian agriculture reaches the world while bringing the best of global produce to India.
“This is just the beginning of the journey to build a truly borderless future for agriculture.”
