Organic Cooperatives Empower Farmers:
Shree Nath Nirmal Radha Organic Farmer Producer Company Limited (FPO) established in March 2023 in Jaithra, Etawah, has rapidly emerged as a shining example of sustainability.
Under the leadership of a dedicated board of directors – Poonam Mishra, Shlinder Kumar, Lalit Kumar, Gopal Mishra and Rajesh, the FPO recently achieved a remarkable ₹2 crore turnover by streamlining agricultural inputs, outputs and the honey trades.
A Farmer-First Perspective:
The FPO’s journey comes from direct experience in agriculture. After completing his Acharya degree in 2014, Director Gopal Mishra returned to his village. He observed the declining health of the community and the continuous struggle of the local farmers. This gave rise to a grassroots movement to recognize the critical need for a return to Vedic, organic farming for chemical-free food.
A 183-cow shelter was started in 2015 to address the issue of stray cattle destroying crops. The cow dung was ingeniously used to produce organic vermicompost. Buoyed by the success, local farmers came together to form the cooperative, which today is empowering more than 468 shareholder farmers.
Value Added Organics & Social Impact:
Market Innovation : The FPO processes millets grown in the region (Bajra, Ragi, Kodo, Jowar) into consumer products, like Mix Millet Atta and Millet Laddu. They have also mobilized local beekeepers to launch pure honey variants and organic jaggery.
Fair Compensation: Farmers can sell directly to the government , bypassing middlemen, by establishing a unique Minimum Support Price (MSP) center. Moreover, their products have been brought on the national e-commerce platform ONDC through a strategic tie-up with SFAC and BAYER.
Community Welfare: FPO distributed nutrition kits comprising millets to 1,395 undernourished children through its “Sahi Poshan Desh Roshan” drive and got appreciated at the state level.
Removing the Middlemen!
To make sure fair compensation between the farmers, Srinath FPO is deeply connected to bring social impact in the society. To make sure people get proper nutritional food and they realised the important of crop’s nutrients, they launched “Sahi Poshan desh Roshan” Drive. This initiative distributes the millet-based nutrition kits to the undernourished children.
