Farmer’s Son Built a ₹10 Cr/Month Agritech Manufacturing Company — The Story of Prakash Rijal

Prakash Rijal’s journey did not begin in a boardroom, it began in the fields. Born into a farming family, he witnessed the true challenges of agriculture firsthand while growing up: the endless wait for rain, the struggle for water, and the reliance on traditional methods. As a child, he would often skip school during the farming season to help his family with weeding, irrigation, and other farm chores. These early experiences stayed with him and ultimately defined his life’s purpose.

Without any formal higher education, Prakash began his career as a helper in a polymer factory. Everything he learned, he learned on the shop floor by observing machines, troubleshooting problems, and understanding how materials behave in real-world conditions. Over the course of more than two decades, he rose through the ranks, one step at a time: Helper → Operator → Supervisor → Plant In-charge → General Manager.

These 20-plus years of hands-on learning became his greatest strength.

With virtually zero capital investment—but backed by the strong support of his mentors, suppliers, friends, and family Prakash founded MIPA Industries. He did so with a simple, straightforward vision: to create practical, field-tested solutions that genuinely help farmers.

Even today, he loves visiting farms, talking to farmers, and personally inspecting product performance directly in the fields. As he puts it, “Real feedback doesn’t come from offices, it comes from the fields.”

Prakash also currently serves as the Secretary of the All India Geomembrane Manufacturers Association (AIGMA), working collaboratively with farmers, manufacturers, and policymakers to address industry-wide challenges.

How MIPA Industries Is Transforming Agriculture Across India:

Operating under the brand name MIPATEX, MIPA Industries manufactures advanced polymer-based solutions designed specifically for agricultural environments. The company focuses on addressing the primary challenges of farming—water scarcity, soil degradation, weed proliferation, and crop loss.

Key solutions include:

HDPE Geomembrane Pond Liners for farm ponds which facilitate year-round irrigation and reduce dependence on rainfall.

Vermicompost Beds which promote organic farming and restore soil health.

Weed Control Mats & Mulch Films which minimize the use of herbicides, conserve water, and boost crop yields.

Orchard Protection Covers an in-house innovation that shields crops from heat, pests, and wind.

Shade Nets which help maintain a favorable microclimate and facilitate uniform plant growth. In addition to manufacturing, MIPA offers installation assistance, free expert advice to farmers, and comprehensive after-sales service. To resolve logistical challenges regarding product availability in remote areas, Prakash has also established an in-house e-commerce platform mipatex.in through which they deliver products directly to farmers across India.

Impact, Recognition, and Expansion:

In just a few short years, MIPATEX has:

  • Established a 100% in-house manufacturing line featuring BIS-certified products.
  • Promoted the large-scale construction of farm ponds for water conservation.
  • Helped thousands of farmers reduce costs, conserve water, and increase their crop yields.
  • Expanded its operations to Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and countries in the Middle East.
  • Built a dedicated team comprising over 200 employees.
  • Garnered recognition from *The Economic Times* (MSME Star Stories) and the *Zee 24 Taas Krushi Sanman*. Why This Journey Is Different

Prakash says, “I chose this path because I have lived through this problem myself—both in the fields and in the factory. I knew exactly what farmers needed, and I also knew how to build it.”

His approach is simple, yet highly effective:

Understanding the real problem → Developing practical solutions → Iterating based on grassroots-level feedback.

From being a farmer’s son to building a company that generates over ₹10 crore in monthly revenue, Prakash Rizal’s story reminds us that true innovation emerges from the grassroots—and that real change begins with understanding the problem firsthand.
