Precision Agriculture for India: KrishiAI has developed the first unified Agri-OS, a platform that combines autonomous AI software with proprietary IoT hardware, addressing the critical need for integrated technology for small-scale farmers in rural India.
KrishiAI is building a new category in Indian agriculture with its full-stack AgriOS, an integrated platform of AI, IoT and real-time farm intelligence to empower small farmers, agri-businesses and the broader agricultural ecosystem.
Precision agriculture is still not affordable in India, where 86% of farmers have less than two hectares, and it is expensive and fragmented. Farmers often use a patchwork of disconnected sources — weather apps, soil labs, local advisories — without clear, actionable insights.
This is exactly the problem KrishiAI was designed to solve. The team wanted to build not just another advisory app, but a unified digital ecosystem that simplifies decision-making for farmers, while catering to the full agricultural value chain.
Its core is AgriOS, which combines soil, weather and crop data with live “digital twins” of each farm. The platform integrates 21 AI agents that drive the entire farm to fork workflow – ranging from soil preparation, crop planning, pest detection, harvesting, financial access and market linkages – all in one place. The voice-first interface supports multiple languages, so even low-literacy users can access it.
The problem: a divided digital harvest
India’s farm sector is badly broken. For 86% Indian farmers who have less than two hectares of land, the modern “Precision Agriculture” is a myth. Global hardware costs ₹5-50 lakh – a price tag impossible for a smallholder.
A farmer today has to pass through a jungle of disconnected systems: IMD for weather, government labs for soil and local officers for pest advice.
None of these systems communicate with each other. You get “digital divide“, four different apps for farmers, but zero actionable intelligence.
KrishiAI Launches: The One Digital Partner
KrishiAI was built by a team of 5 people, who didn’t want to accept that Indian farmers had to choose between old advice and unaffordable technology. KrishiAI also fills infrastructure gaps with proprietary IoT devices and KrishiNet, a mesh network that can work in low or no-internet zones. It provides connectivity at real time even in remote areas.
The journey started with a fundamental frustration, every time you spoke to a farmer, they had three or four different apps they had been given by NGOs. Born out of the frustration of seeing farmers abandon clunky, disjointed apps, KrishiAI was built to be an ally in Full-Stack, not just another advisory tool. After bootstrapping through early 2025 and rigorous validation at the ground level in Maharashtra’s Vidarbha region, the platform has now morphed into a sovereign intelligence layer for the Indian farm.
“We refused to believe that Indian farmers had to choose between old school advice and unaffordable technology. We created that which wasn’t there.”
Agri-OS Ecosystem Key Capabilities
- KrishiAI not just gives recommendations, it also builds a live Digital Twin of every farm integrating soil, weather and financial data into a virtual model.
- 21 Autonomous AI Agents – from crop advisory, pest detection, financial services, and marketplace access all on one unified platform.
- Vasundhara AI: A bespoke advisor that distills complex data into simple, actionable recommendations delivered in the farmer’s native tongue.
- 13 Proprietary IoT Designs: KrishiAI broke the cost barrier by designing hardware specifically for India, from ₹800 ear tags for livestock to ₹8 lakh autonomous farm robots.
- KrishiNet: A proprietary mesh network layer designed for “dark zones” with no internet, ensuring that even the most remote farm stays connected.
AgriOS is intended to be a common infrastructure layer for the entire agriculture sector. FPOs Agritech companies, agri-distribution companies, seed companies and seed-growing farmers can use the platform to offer services at scale, farm level intelligence, traceability without making any investments in their own technology. Farmers can leverage its AI capabilities and structured farm data to enable agricultural innovation.
The Experiment: Vidarbha to 1000+ Acres
KrishiAI’s journey is all about 100% retention.”. Starting with a pilot focused on real-world constraints, the platform has proven that when technology delivers immediate value, adoption follows.
- Active Farmers: 200 (with zero churn)
- Acres Managed: 1,000+ acres of high-intelligence farming
- Infrastructure: Over 500 live APIs and Voice-first interface for low literacy users.
KrishiAI supports biofortification by helping farmers with AI-driven advisory on which nutrient-enriched seed varieties and cultivation practices are best suited to their soil and climate, while linking them to premium buyers and nutrition programs that pay higher prices for biofortified produce, creating a direct income uplift for small farmers.
The Competitive Edge: What Sets KrishiAI Apart
Hardware + Software Integration: Most startups pick one or the other, but KrishiAI knew that AI has no reliable data without proprietary hardware. They built both from the beginning.
Built for Limitations: The platform has a voice-first UI and supports 4 languages. These weren’t add-ons, they were the principles of design.
Domain Depth: Most apps are built by city-based engineers, but KrishiAI was built by agriculture domain experts. “It’s the reality of farming; it’s not how an algorithm thinks it should be.
Zero Shortcuts: KrishiAI has avoided subsidized growth and focused on pure product utility to build a foundation of trust that is rare in rural markets.
AgriOS assists state and central government bodies in evidence-based policy making, better targeting of various Govt. schemes like PM-KISAN and crop insurance and district level yield forecasting—all without the need to build infrastructure from scratch.”
The platform has been piloted for over 1000+ acres in Vidarbha with 200 active farmers and zero churn, which speaks to strong on-ground adoption.
The Future: Scaling the Intelligence Layer
KrishiAI plans to give a digital identity to 120 million small and marginal farmers. The platform is creating a new category of unified farm intelligence by removing the “status quo” of disconnected apps.
With its live platform on Android and a growing fleet of autonomous agents, KrishiAI is proving that Indian agriculture doesn’t need more apps, it needs a single, integrated brain.
KrishiAI is an integrated platform that combines hardware, software and localized intelligence to make Indian agriculture efficient, data-centric and scalable for 120 million small farmers and every stakeholder connected to them.
“Our journey is about competing against fragmentation. “We are building the integrated platform that ensures no farmer is left behind in the digital age.”
