How One CA is Revolutionizing India’s Fish Farming with Manjha Technologies

As a professional chartered accountant, Shobhit Aggarwal has always aspired to start his own business. He chose to take a chance during the COVID-19 shutdown, when the majority of the planet was at a halt. Together with his friend Sudhir, whose family had been in the fish farming industry for more than 30 years, he rented a 5-acre pond and started fish farming. But despite having that expertise, he still had to deal with a lot of obstacles, from buying seeds and other inputs to selling the finished crop.

The Pain Was Personal. So Was the Solution:

He didn’t just observe the inefficiencies; he lived them. He saw how farmers were trapped in the web of seed brokers and agents, how quality aqua inputs were often out of reach, and how most decisions at the pond were driven by guesswork or WhatsApp forwards. Reliable advisory services? Almost non-existent. The deeper he dug, the clearer it became: the system wasn’t just flawed — it was fragmented.

That’s when the idea of Manjha Technologies was born. Not as a polished startup pitch, but as a raw, urgent solution to the chaos he had experienced firsthand.

Reimagining Aquaculture, One Farmer at a Time:

He discussed the problem of buying/ selling of fish seed with Divyam who was just completing his B.E. from BITS and they launched Manjha in August 2021, Manjha began as a simple digital seed marketplace with one goal: eliminate middlemen and ensure access to high-quality, verified seed. But what started as a seed soon grew into something much larger.

Today, Manjha is a full-stack aquaculture platform, serving over 16,500 farmers across India. It delivers everything from quality fish seed and feed to medicines and expert consultancy — right to the farmer’s pond.

In 2024, Manjha took a major leap forward by launching its own feed brand, Matsya Setu, developed in partnership with ICAR-CIBA, one of India’s premier fisheries research institutions. The result? Over 250 farmers have already reported up to 15% reduction in feed costs — a significant win in an industry where feed represents the biggest chunk of production expense.

Building Not Just a Platform, But a Community:

But Manjha isn’t just about logistics and supply chains. It’s about connection. The platform’s Matsya Charcha feature lets farmers ask questions, share advice, and learn from each other — creating a digital village square for aquaculture. So far, over 1,500 queries have been posted and successfully resolved, many through peer-to-peer interaction backed by Manjha’s expert consultants.

Farmers also have access to tutorials, videos, and updates on government schemes through the Discover section — equipping them with the knowledge to make better decisions, every single day.

Anchored by the 4Ts: Team, Technology, Transparency, and Trust.

At the heart of Manjha lies a simple but powerful philosophy — the 4Ts:

The Right Team: People who believe in purpose before profit.

Technology-First Approach: Simplifying farming through smart solutions.

Transparency: In pricing, in operations, in partnerships.

Trust: Because real transformation begins with belief.

These aren’t just buzzwords. They’re the backbone of everything Manjha builds — from tech to community to culture.

Meet the Manjha Technologies team members:

The founding team of Manjha Technologies possesses a wide range of complimentary skills and expertise. The company’s financial and operational aspects are skilfully managed by Shobhit Aggarwal, a qualified CA & CMA with more than ten years of experience in finance and taxation. The company’s technical development and innovative initiatives are led by Divyam Goel, an engineering graduate from BITS-Pilani. As the head of the customer relations department and the son of an aquaculture family, Sudhir is an MCA who works closely with farmers to increase output.

An expert in fish and shrimp aquaculture with over 30 years of experience, Dr. Ajmer Singh Malik offers priceless insights into the subtleties of the business. This dynamic team works together as the foundation of Manjha Technologies, driving the company’s goal to transform the aquaculture sector by creativity, know-how, and in-depth knowledge of the sector.

The Road Ahead:

With its eyes set on IoT-based pond monitoring, credit access for farmers, and forward market linkage, Manjha isn’t slowing down anytime soon. It’s not just reshaping aquaculture — it’s creating a blueprint for how rural innovation can thrive when empathy meets execution.

In a sector often overlooked, where tradition and technology rarely cross paths, Manjha is weaving a new story. One where the farmer comes first. One where the system finally works for those who feed it. One where belief, grit, and good tech go a long, long way.

Manjha is more than a company. It’s a movement — built not in a boardroom, but on the muddy banks of a fish pond.
