Hollywood and Bollywood Star Nitu Chandra Srivasttava, a National Award-winning film producer from Bihar, has invested in Bhagalpur based Start-Up Agrifeeder Agricultural Services Pvt Ltd, a farmer first consumer food brand delivering sustainable ecosystem that benefits both farmers and consumers alike.
The company presently has a network of 5000+ marginal farmers, including 1000+ women farmers and empowers them by introducing indigenous Category of foods, packaging and supply chain in the ecosystem.
Raman Kumar, Rounak Kumar and Priya Pandey founded Agrifeeder, aimed at enhancing the standard of living for small and marginal farmers. “We are thrilled to announce our association with renowned Hollywood and Bollywood actress, Neetu Chandra. Her inclusion on the board will contribute to the brand’s rapid growth”, Raman Kumar said in a statement.
Coming from an agricultural family, brothers Rounak Kumar and Raman Kumar realised the challenges in the agri- sector from an early age. Raman, who completed his MBA from ISBR Business School, was introduced to entrepreneurship during a seminar in his college. Raman discussed the idea with Rounak, who completed his engineering from Anna University, and decided to launch their own business in the agri-tech sector.
In 2017, Raman along with his wife Priya Pandey and elder brother Rounak launched Agrifeeder based out of Pirpainti, Bihar. Originally hailing from Patna, Bihar, Neetu Chandra maintains a strong connection to her roots. Her understanding of the challenges faced by rural communities in Bihar, particularly in the agricultural sector, makes her a powerful and relatable voice for Agrifeeder’s cause.
Neetu Chandra expressed her enthusiasm on joining as a co-founder, stating, “I recognize the challenges faced by farmers in Bihar, particularly women, in accessing markets and receiving fair compensation for their hard work.
“Agrifeeder business model allows farmers to bypass middlemen, sell value-added products with recognized branding, and earn a more sustainable income. Neetu Chandra further said that, the fact that over 1000 women farmers are part of the Agrifeeder network and are experiencing these income improvements underscores the initiative’s commitment to gender equality and women’s empowerment in agriculture.
